Who we are

The website and app are run by Latest Exam Packs, a brand of Zip Rides (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2021/810791/07), the “responsible party” under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Contact: [email protected].

Summary

We collect as little as possible. Practising is free and needs no account or sign-up. We never see your card or bank details. If you buy, we use your email address (and your name, if you give it) only to send your access code and receipts. We don’t sell or share your information, and there are no ads or tracking cookies.

The website

What stays in your browser

The website saves your chosen vehicle and, if you bought, your access code and access details in your browser’s local storage, so you don’t have to re-enter them. You can remove them by clearing your browser’s site data.

Because each code can be used on up to 2 phones, the website also creates a random device number in your browser. When you unlock (and every few days after that) it sends your access code and this device number to our server, which stores the device number, the dates it was first and last used and your browser type (for example “Android Chrome”) with your order. We use this only to apply the 2-phone limit and to help you move your code to a new phone.

Payments

Web payments are handled by our payment providers, Yoco and (later) Ozow. You enter your card or bank details on their secure payment page. We never see, receive or store your card or bank details. The payment provider tells us that a payment was made, with the amount, payment reference and the name you entered there. Before paying, the website asks for your email address so we can send your access code. It is saved in your browser (so you don’t have to type it again) and stored with your order on our server, which runs on Cloudflare; your access code email is sent through Google (Gmail). Your order record holds your email address, the amount, the date, the payment reference and your access code. Their handling of your data is covered by their own privacy policies.

What we use your name and email for

We use your name and email address only to send your access code and receipts, and to reply if you contact us (for example about delivery or a refund). We do not add you to a mailing list or send marketing.

Hosting

The website is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site against abuse. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

The app

The Latest K53 app has no account, no sign-up, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and does not send personal information to us.

On your phone only: your chosen vehicle, practice progress, mock test history and wrong answers are saved only in the app’s local storage. Delete them with My progress → Reset my progress, by clearing the app’s storage in Android settings, or by uninstalling. If you use Android device backup, Google may include this data in your personal backup, which you and Google control.
In-app purchase: the optional once-off unlock is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card or payment details; the app only asks Google Play whether your account owns the unlock. See the Google Privacy Policy.
Reporting a question: “Report this question” opens your own email app with a pre-filled message. Nothing is sent unless you send it. If you do, we use your email address and message only to reply and fix the question.
Permissions: Google Play billing and network access to confirm a purchase. The app does not use your location, camera, microphone, contacts or files.

Sharing

We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. It is only shared with the service providers needed to run the product (the payment provider, our email provider and our web host), and where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep purchase records (name, email, amount, date and reference) for as long as needed to support your purchase and to meet tax and accounting laws (normally 5 years), then delete them. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to help you.

Security

We keep purchase records in password-protected accounts that only we can access, and we never handle card details ourselves.

Children

The website and app are study aids for learner drivers. They are not directed at children under 13.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
ask us to correct or delete it;
object to us processing it; and
complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
